Anticthon hides itself on the opposite side of the sun from Earth. Ancient Greeks called it our sister, but this counter-Earth is as different as siblings can be.
Those who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it.

No one left to praise them, no one left to build temples in their honor.
The Gods were infuriated.
The Gods created an identical Earth, and hid it opposite the sun in perfect synchronization.
But the Gods grew bored, so to entertain themselves, they created The Game of Gods...
Ten magical tomes imbued with 10 magical elements of power were hidden across Anticthon. The Gods cursed the residents with immortality, then granted them the use of magic.
Cerberus, charged with guarding the gates of the underworld, was put under a spell of sleep. The dead escape, re-spawning as if nothing happened, haunted in their dreams by their horrible deaths. Those who died before the curse of immortality re-entered as the un-dead.
To remain needed, the Gods keep Anticthon in a constant state of war,
a continual Dark Age.
Anticthon's five factions, each worshipping their own God. Each believes if their faction wins and destroys the world, they will be rewarded while all others suffer.
Breaking the Gods' curse can only be done when all 10 tomes of power have been brought together. This is expected to cause a great cataclysm that will destroy the entirety of Anticthon in the process.
Truth be told, nearly all Anticthon’s citizens look forward to this day. Anything to end the perpetual suffering they are forced to endure…
